A tempest in a teapot
Letters
Editor: I do not think that I can be accused of being soft on anti-Semites,
or Holocaust deniers, but some of your readers are stretching their
outrage a bit too thin.
The latest is the teapot storm about the name of the Terasen company,
which is being compared to the infamous Terezin concentration camp.
("Bad choice of a name," Bulletin Letters, Nov.
14, and "Name conjures bad memories," Bulletin Letters,
Nov. 21) It is becoming ridiculous, to say the least.
I have no connection with the above organization but give them a
break. Soon, we will prevent anyone from using the name Teresa or
Polish people will complain about those called Cathy because it
reminds them of the Katyn forest where 11,000 officers and intellectuals
were massacred by the Soviets.
Rather than making these comparisons, let's preserve the sacred
memory of those who died during the Shoah by making sure that it
isn't going to happen again.
