Editor: Regarding your cover story on Yad b'Yad's Mapping and Mobilization project by Cynthia Ramsay ("Learn about community," Bulletin, Nov. 14):

I applaud every effort for inclusion in the Jewish community. My memories as a kid have put and kept a bad taste in my mouth regarding many aspects discussed in that article. As an adult, I have found things have slowly changed but still I feel an outsider within my own community.

This article has articulated better than I could have the feelings and dissapointments around not feeling welcome within the Jewish community.

We talk about anti-Semitism, assimilation, etc., as issues affecting the strength of our community, but what has often been neglected is the exclusion that our own community unknowlingly often inflicts unto those in it who do not "fit."

I hope that some people will wake up and realize that money and status do not make a better Jew, Canadian or human being, and that there are many people who would like to contribute and actively take part, without feeling ashamed of their financial, social or any other status that might marginalize them.
