Thanks for symposium
Letters
Editor: As a Grade 12 student at Magee Secondary in Vancouver,
I found the recent Holocaust Symposium to be an extraordinary event.
It is so important that the youth nowadays are familiar with such
atrocities as the Holocaust. In some history textbooks, merely a
couple of sentences or a paragraph is written to explain what happened.
This is not enough. People learning the topic for the first time
will not understand nor care enough to want to make a difference
in preventing genocide in the future. On the contrary, at the symposium,
I noticed much involvement from a variety of races, as well as questions
showing increasing interest in the issue. Afterwards, most people
left with the desire to know even more. This symposium had a major
impact on so many young people. I wish to commend all of the organizers,
supporters and presenters for their ongoing commitment to this valuable
event.
