Letters
Editor: Talking to a few people from the community, I noticed their
disappointment with the content of a letter written by Naftali Lavie
(Bulletin, Feb. 8). He was advocating for the return of all
Arab refugees to Israel. I must admit that his remarks, however
unreasonable and regrettable, are not the craziest ones put forward.
A month or so ago, there was a letter published in the Bulletin
sent from California by Carla Schick. In it she was propagandizing
the return of millions of refugees to Israel and at the same time
compulsory evacuation of all Israeli settlements! Such a statement
would amaze even the most extreme Arabs.
I don't think that such letters should be taken seriously. Of course,
it is very strange to watch Jews proposing the destruction of the
Jewish state. Fortunately, it will not happen, because it is only
up to Israelis to decide whether or not they want to commit suicide.
People writing such things as Ms. Schick and Mr. Lavie, in my opinion,
are just attention-seekers wanting their name to be shown on the
soap opera page run by the paper.
They must be aware of the fact that they are a very minuscule minority
among the Jews, and this inflames their imagination even further.
However, as an old Chinese proverb says "Dogs bark, bark, but
the wind blows, blows." Let them entertain themselves!
