Please help Paris synagogue
Letters
Editor: During a visit to Paris last month, I had the pleasure
of attending Shabbat morning services at Adath Shalom, the first
Masorti (Conservative) community in France and the only one
in Paris. I was warmly welcomed by Rabbi Rivon Krygier and many
of the congregation, and even given an aliyah a first for
this U.S. American woman who has attended many European synagogues!
Any visit to Paris would definitely be enriched by a visit to Adath
Shalom, in addition to the splendid Museum of Jewish History and
the Medem Yiddish Library.
With the increase in anti-Semitic incidents in France in recent
years, Adath Shalom has had to tighten security. At the moment,
their major concern is the skylight in the sanctuary, which allows
natural light to flood the room but has also been the target of
rocks and other objects. So far, thank G-d, no one has been injured,
but the skylight is definitely a security problem. If anyone would
like to contribute to reinforce the synagogue roof, please send
your donations to Adath Shalom, 8 rue Georges Bernard Shaw, 75015
Paris, France; 011-33-1-45-67-97-96; [email protected];
www.adathshalom.org.
I know that money is tight everywhere, but please contribute if
you can.
