Article at odds with Islamic teaching
Letters
Editor: The Canadian Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-CAN)
condemns a recent article published in a British Columbia Muslim
newsletter [Miracle, Dec. 19] that, among other accusations,
blamed Jews for faking the Holocaust, causing the Great Depression,
beginning both the First and Second World Wars and planning the
Sept. 11 attacks.
We stand with other Canadians in denouncing the contents of this
hateful and malicious article (written by Idaho resident Edgar Steele,
who the Southern Poverty Law Centre identifies as an anti-Semite
and anti-black racist). Such commentary is completely at odds with
both the letter and spirit of Islamic teaching and merely hinders
efforts at interfaith understanding and tolerance.
