B.C. Muslim group bans Miracle
Letters
Editor: In regards to the anti-Semitic article recently published
in a local ethnic newspaper the Miracle, the B.C. Muslim
Association strongly condemns the opinion expressed in the article
and is greatly disturbed by any association of it to Muslims. [For
more information, see Bulletin cover stories Jan. 9 and 16.]
The B.C. Muslim Association represents more than 50,000 Muslims
in British Columbia.
In response to this hateful and malicious article, the B.C. Muslim
Association has taken the liberty of prohibiting the circulation
of this newspaper at all of its mosques and centres.
This kind of commentary [in the Miracle, Dec. 19] is completely
against the teachings of Islam and all people of conscience should
deplore it.
The B.C. Muslim Association will not tolerate any form of racism,
anti-Semitism or racial profiling of any sort.
Daud Ismail, president
The B.C. Muslim Association
