Dangers of imperialism
Letters
Editor: In December 2001, former Iranian president Ayatollah Rafsanjani
called on Muslims to destroy Israel with a nuclear bomb. He admitted
this would kill a lot of Muslims too, but implied that these would
be acceptable losses since there would be plenty left. In April
1990, Saddam Hussein threatened to "burn half of Israel"
with chemical weapons if attacked (apparently the Palestinians cheering
him on believed he had a way to avoid "frying" them).
Those who try to reduce the war against the Jewish state to the
"Israeli-Palestinian conflict" portray Israel as a Goliath
with the Palestinians cast as David. But they ignore the wider context
that many in the Arab world, along with non-Arab collaborators in
Iran's Khomeinist regime and elsewhere, want to annihilate Israel,
perpetrating a second Holocaust by murdering over one third of the
world's Jews. So who is the real Goliath? The situation at the UN
reveals the true picture.
Anti-Israel "progressives," claiming sensitivity towards
the Holocaust, seem oblivious to the present danger. By downplaying
or ignoring widespread human rights abuses and Nazi-like Jew-hatred
in the Muslim world, they have become lapdogs of Islamist imperialism.
No wonder they give no support to the Iranians currently trying
to overthrow their Khomeinist "terror masters."
