Celebrating 80 years ...

The Jewish Independent/Jewish Western Bulletin has always been widely read -- and the best way for advertisers to reach the local community.
In the Feb. 28, 1935, issue, an advertisement touted the fact that the JWB had been quoted three times by eastern newspapers: twice by the Jewish Daily Bulletin of New York and once in the Canadian Jewish Chronicle of Montreal. "Not one writer, but many contributors of the Jewish Western Bulletin make it a leading periodical in American Jewish journalism," a tradition the JI proudly maintains, most recently having won three 2009 Rockower Awards for excellence in Jewish journalism from the American Jewish Press Association.
The 1935 ad also promoted the success rate of advertisers in the JWB and the paper as "an economical medium that brings whatever message you wish to present to a responsive, high-class community."
The only Jewish paper west of Winnipeg at the time, the JWB saw itself as "A wide-awake, intelligent newspaper that has won its spurs as a literary and advertising periodical."
