Don't forget Jewish MPs
Letters
Editor: I just wanted to clear up a few points in Mr. Goldman's
article in a recent paper in which I was quoted. ("Jews and
politics do mix," Bulletin Opinion, Jan. 24) It is important
to be aware that there are a number of Jewish members of Parliament,
particularly Irwin Cotler (Mount Royal), Minister of National Revenue
Elinor Caplan (Thornhill) and Anita Neville (Winnipeg South Centre).
It is very important that we acknowledge the work of Jewish parliamentarians
regardless of the party they support. If individuals contact their
members of Parliament on subjects relating to Jewish causes or Israel,
copies should be sent to Jewish members of Parliament as well. We
should make their jobs easier not harder.
