An appalling letter
Letters
Editor: I was pleased to see the letters from Stephen Aberle, Svend
Robinson and Aaron Maté. (Jewish Bulletin, Dec. 6)
However, I was appalled by the letter by Max A. Jacobson in Burnaby
("A war of attrition").
Jacobson's demented call for Israel to "be prepared to inflict
proportionately higher casualties upon its enemies than they upon
Israelis" and his characterization of all Palestinians as "relentless
enemies," "regardless of age, sex or political orientation,"
is pure fascism. How would JWB readers react to a similar
letter in the opposite direction, characterizing all Israelis rather
than Palestinians as "enemies," regardless of age, sex,
etc., to whom concepts of compassion and tolerance must not apply?
