How to get your honey
BAILA LAZARUS EDITOR
The next Michael and Rory Present party takes place at the end
of August, celebrating the end of summer and Rosh Hashanah at the
same time. Organizers Michael Horowitz and Rory Richards expect
more than 300 people to show up to the ROSH C'mon and Get
Your Honey event.
Party-goers can expect hopping music, drinks, dancing, shmoozing,
a disco hour, a special surprise at midnight, along with apple and
honey martinis.
"The demand is still there," said Horowitz. "People
crave the opportunity to socialize with new faces. We've been receiving
calls and e-mails for when the next party was going to be almost
immediately after Club Schmooze."
Club Schmooze was Richards' and Horowitz's latest party extravaganza,
which took place in May. The two organizers are also responsible
for the success of Jewish Love Potion and Aviva Las Vegas.
"This is the first time Rory and I have combined one of our
dance parties with a Jewish holiday," continued Horowitz. "It's
a unique way of celebrating the end of the summer."
Richards added that the momentum of the first party has continued
to grow and now people are expecting big things from the pair.
"The impact our parties have had on the under-40 community
is more than we expected and the demand for Michael and I to organize
more events has been strong," said Richards. "By throwing
these parties Michael and I are committing to keeping this community
fresh and on their toes."
The buzz about the success of the Michael and Rory parties has travelled
south to Seattle, Richards added.
"We have had several groups of young Jews come up from Seattle
to attend our last two parties and they all returned raving to their
friends there. It looks like there will be a lot more people driving
up from Seattle to attend the Rosh party. This is very exciting
for the Vancouver singles scene."
The ROSH C'mon and Get Your Honey bash takes place Saturday,
Aug. 31, at Vertical Lounge, 3116 West Broadway, 9 p.m. Entry is
$15. For more information, e-mail [email protected]."
