Felton lingo is hurtful
Letters
Editor: In his latest letter to your newspaper, ("For your
edification," Bulletin, April 4) Greg Felton rails against
those who label him an anti-Semite for exposing "the false
equation of Zionism with Judaism." Is he serious? Zionism and
Judaism are inextricably linked. Israel is the heart and soul of
Judaism and the Jewish people. I think Greg needs to spend time
reading some of our ancient texts to see why the re-established
state of Israel is so important to Jews everywhere.
Second, Greg needs to realize that his lingo (eg. "Zionist
entity") and obsession with one topic that is so hurtful to
Jews, denying the legitimacy of Israel, are why some might think
that he is an anti-Semite. He thinks this term is a cowardly slur
and something else that we have stolen from the Arabs. Well, I think
that he is a coward for hiding behind the term Zionist. He should
try using the term Jewish instead of Zionist. Maybe then he would
realize that his letters and articles are quite hateful.
