Where to find the facts
Letters
Editor: May I add my vote to those opposed to giving a platform
to all the anti-Zionists since they have no shortage of opportunities
to share their hatred and disinformation. I also have difficulty
understanding why the Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver
would invite the likes of Deborah Campbell. If there is anyone interested
in facts and the truth as opposed to Campbell's fiction, I strongly
recommend reading the book From Time Immemorial: The Origins
of the Arab-Jewish Conflict Over Palestine by Joan Peters. This
book is the result of seven years of historical research, including
archives, and demonstrates that Jews did not displace Arabs in "Palestine"
just the reverse. Peters began her research as an investigation
of the plight of the "Arab refugees" as she felt that
the deprivation of their human rights and the political manipulation
of their unfortunate situation were unconscionable. Truth and facts
caused her to change her position completely. She is not a Jew and
was anything but pro-Israel when she started her investigation.
The book was published by Harper and Row in 1984.
I would like to commend you for providing information about the
Vancouver Israel Action Committee and their Web site. There is also
another excellent Web site, www.infoisrael.net,
which is the Israel Hasbara committee where one may obtain factual
information, both past and present.
