Editor: This is not to “toot my own horn,” but to voice my disappointment with Pat Johnson’s article on the Yom Hashoah commemorative evening (“Solemnity, but not without joy,” Bulletin, April 12). Your reporter wrote at some length about Barry Dunner, who gave the closing remarks. He also copied the list of all those taking part in the candlelighting, even though this was not correct. Robert Krell was not there due to illness and David Shaffer, a child survivor, was there instead. Also, Judith Forst and the men’s choir were reported on, and even the fact that someone fainted and a doctor attended to him.

I had been notified by Rome Fox some time ago that the focus of this year’s program would be the child survivor and my opening remarks reflected that theme, as did the text read by Mark Elster accompanying the candlelighting. In the interest of fair reporting and as a courtesy to us, I think the article should have at least stated that Marion Cassirer, a child survivor, gave the opening remarks and Mark Elster, a child survivor did the reading during the candlelighting.
