Moving onward

Letters

Editor: I have recently decided to resign from my position as the executive director, Pacific region of the Vancouver chapter of the Canadian Friends of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (CFHU). I would like to take this opportunity, through the pages of the Jewish Western Bulletin, to express my appreciation to all the wonderful people in our community, Canada and Israel with whom I have had the privilege of working and interacting with during the last 17 years.

I would like to express my thanks to all of the national executive directors, national and local presidents, board members, staff, and members of all other Jewish organizations whose guidance and support I appreciated greatly. Moreover, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the outstanding volunteers in our community. Their enthusiasm, creativity and commitment made my work for CFHU both rewarding and enjoyable.

The past 17 years have been significant for the growth of the Vancouver chapter of CFHU. It has been an honor and privilege to have been part of this development and to have been instrumental in creating so many fund-raising events and programs.

The Jewish Western Bulletin has played a significant role in helping the Vancouver chapter of CFHU develop. Without the Bulletin's support and co-operation, our events, significantly fund-raisers, student recruitment program, lectures, New Leadership activities (Young Associates), board of governors, Mission to Israel, etc. could not have been as successful and as well attended.

I hope that, in my new job as director of development for the foundation of the Louis Brier Home and Hospital, I will be able to continue to serve the Vancouver Jewish community and work with our community's leaders to meet the escalating needs of the Vancouver Jewish community and its elderly population.

Todah rabah!

Dvori Balshine
