Celebrating 80 years ...
More than 20 years ago, the Jewish Western Bulletin was informing the community about climate change; once known as global warming, then called the greenhouse effect. The Feb. 16, 1989, issue of the paper featured an article promoting The Greenhouse Effect – A Hot Time Ahead, a talk hosted by the Vancouver chapter of the Canadian Society for the Weizmann Institute. A spokesperson explained some of the effect’s causes and how “significant warmth resulting from the effect” would melt the ice caps and cause the flooding of coastal cities, among other things.
