Something positive for Israel

Letters

Editor: On behalf of the Israel Action Committee and the Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver, we want to thank the Jewish Western Bulletin for sponsoring and supporting Shop Israel.

Without the advertising and the article that you provided us gratis, we could not have generated the huge crowd of enthusiastic customers. But most importantly you helped us mobilize the community to volunteer to the tune of more than 250 strong. This commitment to the mitzvah we provided to the individual merchants cannot be measured in dollars or cents alone. It was a positive expression of sharing and caring for our Israeli family at this time of crisis.

Israel is at war and we did something positive. Our challenge is to continue our support in many ways and to stand up and speak out in response to the waves of criticism unfairly attacking the sovereign and democratic state of Israel as she fights for the security of her people.
